TDP Politburo member Yanamala Ramakrishnudu on Wednesday wondered how the issue could be linked with the freedom of press. as the freezing of accounts by CBI would affect only 10 percent of its staff.
Addressing a press conference here, Ramakrishnudu said the CBI had made it clear that the seizure was due to the suspicion about the origin of money being deposited in the three accounts.
Investigation is going on into the quid pro quo deals made by the former Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. The sum of Rs. 1 lakh crore, which is in the possession of Jaganmohan Reddy, is in question now,” he said.
Accusing Jaganmohan Reddy of trying to derive political mileage by using the case, Mr. Ramakrishnudu said it was ridiculous on the part of Jaganmohan Reddy to state that democracy was in question and values were deteriorating.
Referring to the freedom of press, Ramakrishnudu said there was no link between the freezing of accounts and freedom of speech and expression, as no ban was promulgated on the media houses of Jaganmohan Reddy.
