A day out of Tihar Raja in parliament Print E-mail

On his  first day out of Tihar jail, after nearly 15  months of internment in the 2G spectrum case, which ruined and brought down the DMK Government in Tamil nadu, former Telecom minister A.Raja made a prompt visit to parliament house.


Former telecom minister, A.Raja, attended the proceedings in the Lok Sabha briefly. He was seated in the last row and left the House early accompanied by some DMK members.

 

 

Raja was released from Tihar Jail last evening after being granted bail in the telecom scam which he allegedly masterminded. As part of his bail conditions, he cannot visit Tamil Nadu, his home state, or his former office, the Department of Telecom, without the court's sanction. He spent 15 months in prison.


Mr Raja is accused of criminal conspiracy and breach of trust by a public servant for allegedly costing the country thousands of crores as telecom minister. The telecom scam revolves around ineligible companies being pushed to the front of a long line of applicants to receive mobile network licenses and valuable airwaves at below-market rates.


Raja and his party are alleged to have made a huge packet  while the nation lost around rs.1.37 lakh crore in the wrong deal which favored a select companies all of which were in the dock right now.


Since his return home last night,Raja has been surrounded by a steady stream of supporters in large numbers at his Delhi residence. Arrangements were made to provide free meals to to all visitors from his home-town, Permabalur, and his constituency of Nilgiris.
